Painted Paws for Veterans provides PTSD service dog training at our ranch in Peyton, Colorado for dogs adopted through our program. We do not currently offer training to outside dogs, nor do we train for medical alert such as sight or hearing impaired, seizures or diabetes. Depending on the age of the dog, this training may include potty training, training with dog doors, ramps, stairs, wheelchairs, leash walking and basic and intermediate obedience. Socialization is accomplished by training in various environments including on the ranch and in town.

PTSD Service dogs do not complete training in just a few weeks. It takes many months of training to turn out a good service companion. Currently, our wait time for a service dog is approximately 30-36 months.

All of the dogs in our training program come from animal shelters and rescues within our referral network.
